 These 3 games intrigue me the most for Week Zero non-power teams

Sac St travels to EMU for its first MAC conference game.

North Dakota St(MWC) host  Jax St(CUSA)

Memphis flies to Vegas to face UNLV. Is Jackson Arnold, former Oklahoma and Auburn QB, the answer for the Rebels.

Wondering who the Sac St starting QB will be?  Carson Conklin, a transfer from Fresno State,and Jackson Sharman, a transfer from Idaho State, are competing to be the starting quarterback.

Nathan Hayes will likely be the Bison starting QB in its home opener vs Jax St. NDSU has a lot of traveling this season including an MWC game at Hawaii on 11/14

MWC Media days: Pre-season  pick for Special Teams PoY WR Jackson Williams (NDSU). 🤔  First Bison season in a 1A conference,

 Rob Harley , NIU interim HC, got the job when HC Thomas Hammock became the Seattle Seahawks RB coach in February.

In 2025, Nick Minicucci, Delaware QB, led CUSA in passing yards (3,683) and was second team CUSA. He'll be Arlington TX for Media Day on July 20. Nice to see the kid return  for 2026

They have tough OOC games: at Clemson and hosting Houston.

Kind of wondering what's happened that Evan Crenshaw(Troy) pre-season pick for SBC best punter started his career at CCU.

AAC Media Day today: USF hosts FIU in its season opener. Van Buren (who transferred from LSU) has the edge due to better mobility in his battle with Kromenhoek (from Mississippi State) for the starting QB spot vacated by Byrum Brown(who transferred to Auburn). 

Hartline's staff hinted they may use both QBs in the right situation.

Casey Woods, former SMU OC, is the MOSU HC.  Locklear from UTEP and Belin IV from Duke are vying to be the starting QB. WKU is Bears first CUSA opponent. September OOC schedule includes TAMU, SMU, and Marshall.

Rainbows open at Stanford and QB Alejado will be working with  new wideouts since Jackson Harris and Brandon White transferred. Tre Griffiths, a transfer from OK St to Hawaii, may help fill that void.

 Utah State was picked to finish third in its division, behind Boise State and Air Force in pre-season media rankings. And on Thursday, the media voted no Aggies players into its preseason All-Mountain West football team

Same type of thing occurred last pre-season and the Ags pounded a one-loss San Diego State team 46-13 to win the MWC Championship and then coasted to a victory over Oregon State in the LA Bowl.

Realignment dominoes: You have to think San Diego St and Boise St are likely targets the Pac 12 pursues if the P5 doesn't become the P4

.Aztecs play Zona and Utah in September, and they don't face Utah St in the 2022 regular season. 

Ags face Bama on 9/3. Also, Utah State and BYU who have met 90 times since 1922 will discontinue their series but hope to schedule future meetings.

Boise State, who opens this season Sept. 3 at Oregon State(Pac12), is trying to recover from its worst season in a decade. Hank Bachmeier is the favorite to win the starting QB job for the fourth year in a row.

 He!! of an opener on 9/3 for Colorado St  @ The Big House in Ann Arbor. Two weeks later they in the wilderness @Wash St.

Hypothetical: if Klia can save the Pac 12, he'll need San Diego St(MWC) and Notre Dame(I)? Or who knows Newsom makes it too onerous for UCLA to exit for the Midwest.

Utah St roared back from a 14-0 deficit to beat UConn 31-20 . It was HC Jim Mora first game coaching the Huskies.

Nevade beat New Mexico St

Hawaii got pummeled by Vandy 63-10

All the shifting and guesses over the the last 4 years and it appears North Dakota St is trying to join the MWC as football only.  Bisons will need to pay an entry fee to join the MWC, along with a $5M NCAA fee to move up from FCS to FBS,  NIU will be their nearest  MWC  and Hawaii their longest road trip.. Then you got trips to UTEP and UNM.
