2025 Non -P4 conference title games

 Four on Friday, MAC on Saturday

Kennesaw State 24  Jacksonville State 20: A. Odom, the KENN QB, is an explosive player.

JMU 27 Troy 19: Troy will have trouble slowing down Barnett, the Dukes QB.

UNLV 31 Boise St 24: BSU will focus on stopping the Rebs passing game led by Colandrea so J.Thomas will rush for 100 yards

NTX 24 Tulane 23: Retzlaff is the key for the Green Wave. and NTX will find a way to slow him down in a nailbiter.

WMU 20 MOH 17:  Broncos have won 4 in a row. Lowry will do enough to get them the W.

I get Neal Brown to NTX and not so sure on Napier to JMU-back in the SBC but not seeing the fit in Harrisonburg , VA

Mora has West coast connection so I get the CSU Rams' hiring.

I've seen Huff mentioned for Tulane. He fled Marshall and his USM squad wiltered at the end of the season.

UAB is  elevating Mortensen from IC to HC, probably the best move.

Split last night. Correct on KENN and JMU. Odom tossed the winning TD for KENN with 57 seconds remaining on the clock. W. Knight RB, JMU:21CAR,212YDS,1TD 

wrong on NTX and UNLV Retzlaff scored two TDs with his legs for TUL. Broncos slowed down the Colandrea aerial show.

Two 60+ yards TD runs for Jalen Buckley fueled WMU to 23 -13 win over MOH and the MAC title.  3-2 for the weekend.

JMU and Tulane have a chance for the CFP. Noteworthy that Retzlaff may make it as the TUL QB while BYU , may not. He left the Cougars after an honor code violation

I'm confused that Charles Huff's USM squad sputtered down the stretch in the SBC, and he got the Memphis HC gig. Blake Anderson, who has a decent resume from HC stints at Ark St  and USU. was elevated to HC.

Rough day for the Blue Turfers. UW 38 BSU 10.  It was 31-3 after 3Q. D. Williams tossed 4 TD passes.

Week 10 Tuesday SBC etc

 TX St has stumbled  through a rough season with plenty of O and less D. Brad Jackson , the QB, (1,786 YDS 9 TD 2 INT) is capable of big games. I'm going to go with TXSt beating the odds and pulling out a squeaker at home .  TXST 31- JMU 30.

Other four guesses will be made later in the week.

When TXST closed to 28-20 to end the first half, I thought I had a shot, but JMU blanked them in the second half. JMU 52 TXST 20. Zero for 1

AAC: Memphis 28 Rice 24.  Owls will give the Tigers a scare  with Quentin Jackson rushing for 100 yards.

CUSA:  LIB 23 DEL 20. Flames have re-grouped after a shaky September.

MAC: Only two  games on the schedule. Tossup so I'll go with WMU the home team WMU 20 CMU 17

MWC:  UNLV gets back on track after the spanking by Boise St. J Glover , UNLV RB, is worth watching. UNLV 31 UNM 27

Correct on Memphis but wrong on Rice making it close.  QJack only rushed for 22 yards for the Owls.

Wrong on ULNV who lost to UNM 40-35. Both QBs tossed 3 TD passes. Lobos are hot ,but the Aztecs are hotter in the MWC.

Correct on LIB  & WMU. 3-2 for the week.

 Nearly neighbors JMU visits LIB in Lynchbirg. Vashko , the JMU QB, will be the difference for JMU in a 21-19 nail-biter W

UTSA steals won 24-23 at CSU led by R.Henry(480yds 6TDs rushing).

Raynor, the Ark St  QB, does enough for a 24-17 win at Kenn St.

Undefeated UNLV  travels to MOH. Colandrea tosses 2 TD passes  for the Rebs in a 27-20 win.

Delaware surprised UConn but won't defeat Kejon Jones(322 rushing yards and 4 TDs )and FIU. FIU 28 DEL 21.

So-so week in picks.  Correct on JMU, UNLV, UTSA

Wrong on Ark St, FIU

UTSA survived 17-16. Another great week for R.Henry  21 CAR 144 YDS, 2 TD, 2 REC 76 YDS, 2 TD

Can't deny that the AAC is having solid season> MEM upset ARK(SEC),Tulsa knocked off OK St(Big12), and  UTSA  survived CSU(MWC) who failed on a 2pt conversion in the final minute of the game.

The Herd scored 42 on MTSU in a W.

Gotta admit I didn't foresee KENN St and DEL getting off to decent starts in the CUSA

O5 Bowl games 2024-25 early ones

 Kind of weird to see bowl games on the same day as the Army/Navy game.

Two seesaw teams . South Bama will eke out a 24-21 win over WMU. Lopez won't toss an INT for the Jags.

Memphis 31 WV 30. Henigan will have a big  passing game for the Tigers.

Is Rich Rod going back to WV for 2025? Will he Coach JVU in the bowl game?

UNLV had a solid season in the MWC while Cal rode a seesaw  all season but made it to .500 overall. Cal 27 UNLV 26

JMU 30 WKU 20. Dukes will bounce back from Nov 30 SBC loss to the #herd 

Sac St  with Mike Vick as HC to either the MWC or Pac 2+. Who are  all these $$$ folks backing the investments in NIL etc?  Well Vick is going to be the HC at Norfolk St

Early  in the game Williams completed a 49 yard TD pass to Kayden McGee, and I felt like the Rebels were going to win. UNLV D blanked Cal 10-0 in the second half.  UNLV 24 Cal 13

Sam Houston hires Phil Longo, former OC  at Wisky, to be the new HC. He worked at SHSU a few years ago.

SHSU beat GASO last night 31-26. French tossed 4 INTs  and the Eagles did not make it all the way back. I got it wrong on Bowl Mania

Since Memphis beat WV(Big 12) in Frisco Bowl, Memphis blew off the PAC 12 and failed to buy itself into the Big 12. Also,  the AAC dropped Athletic from its name  and Tulane got Retzlaff as its QB after his off the field mess at BYU. Is the AC on?

Week 13 in the O5

 AAC: How about UTSA (8-3 7-0AAC)  @ Tulane (10-1 7-0AAC).  Green Wave D will slow down Frank Harris. TUL 24 UTSA 17.

SMU is also 7-0 in conference play and has too much O for the improving Midshipmen D. SMU 27 Navy 13

CUSA: Two experienced head coaches: Kill's Kids win at home over  Rich Rod's Gamecocks. NMSU 24 Jax St 19

MAC: Little Miami owns the tiebreaker over Ohio and will face Toledo in the title game next week. Their rushing attack will do the job Saturday Miami(OH) 20 Ball St 13.

MWC: San José State (6-5 5-2 MWC) @ UNLV (9-2 6-1 MWC). Rebs will make sure they are in the title game. UNLV 28 SJST 23.  I'm just tossing a coin on their opponent next week.  Boise St /AFA, each 5-2,  play Friday.

Sunbelt: Troy is in the title game. CCU hosts JMU and needs a W to get to the title game. I don't see the Chants sealing the deal. JMU 31 CCU 24. McCloud, the JMU QB, will have a big game.

I called this one a coin toss.  Boise 27 AFA 19. Boise gets into the MWC title game if UNLV beats SJST.

SMU crushed Navy. Little Mami blocked a FG attempt to hold off Ball St 17-15.

JMU crushed CCU. McCloud threw 5 TD passes. Appy, not JMU(ineligible). plays Troy in SBC title game.

San Jose State beats UNLV 37-31; MWC ends in 3-way tie for first. Computer is sorting out which two teams land in the title game.

NMSU edged .JX St 20-17 and plays Liberty in the CUSA title game.

Boise State, San Jose State, and UNLV finished the season tied at 6-2 in the MWC standings. None of the three teams appeared in the College Football Playoff Rankings, SJST lost out in the second tiebreaker an average of computer rankings from Anderson & Hester, Colley Matrix and Massey and Wolfe, several of the computers used for the old BCS system. 

Boise St will play at UNLV.

Delaware is moving up to 1A and joining the CUSA.  Blue Hens are about 75 minutes away from me by car. Joe Flacco left Pitt for DE and made it to the NFL.
